Hope For Foster Children

Program Cost Estimates

Cost Estimates for this Program:
Several components are included in the Interstate Adoption Program. There are a number of "third party" fees that are required either by state or federal laws and may also include attorneys' fees. In this program you will have up front costs of only $8,500* (eight thousand five hundred dollars) which include the adoptive service fees AND home study. Any related travel expenses may be additional. However, after the placement of the children, there is usually NO net cost to the adoptive family when the 2012 Federal Adoption Tax Credit of up to $12,600 is received, but we advise our families to check with their accountants or the IRS directly on the government information site: http://www.irs.gov to see how this applies to their financial situation.
The Interstate Adoption Program is a netfree* adoption as the total cost counting the home study is only $8,500. All other fees are usually paid by the ascending state, including medical, legal, matching services, post-placement, and all social work. The 2012 tax credit is up to $12,600, which entirely reimburses the $8,500 in most cases, making it a netfree adoption.

This program is our least expensive adoption program to help adopt individual children or siblings through Hope For Families Adoption Interstate Program! The Sending State generally pays for post placements visits and reports, all legal costs, the interstate compact, finalization, and most often the medical bills of the child at least until finalization or you get insurance for the child in place.  Therefore depending on your tax status after the federal tax credit, this adoption program ends up costing the family nothing as it returns all of the funds to raise your children.

NOTE: IRS is providing a tax credit in 2012 of $12,600 which will provide a total adoption expense reimbursement of the $8,500 program fee which includes home study, plus allowing $4,100 for any other expenses. This tax credit is an actual refund the IRS sends you based on all of the documented expenses you have incurred in adopting including any traveling expenses. Although most of our families pay enough taxes to receive this credit in the year following the placement of the children, we recommend that you would check with the IRS at
http://www.irs.gov and also with your tax preparer to interpret how the tax code is applied to your financial situation.
